AMD has announced new models of its RX graphics cards, this time aiming for a slightly lower segment and 1080p resolution gaming.
Yesterday, AMD introduced new members of its Navi GPU family. The Radeon RX 5500 and its RX 5500M mobile counter are designed for less demanding PC gamers that still shoot at 1080p resolution. The power of these graphics cards will be close to the RX 590, with a starting price of around € 150. It's not small, but AMD will also give each customer a new game: Borderlands 3 or Ghost Recon Breakpoint, whichever you prefer.
Both cards are made in 7 nanometer technology, use GDDR6 memory and support the new PCI Express 4.0 standard. Unlike the 5700, the 5500 uses a 128-bit memory bus and 22 and executable graphics units. The Radeon RX 5500M has the same number of executable graphics units as its desktop variant, with the only difference being slightly lower frequencies and a maximum of 4GB of video memory.
The Radeon RX 5500 can be equipped with up to 8GB of video memory, which is a matter of choice for the manufacturer. Its processing power is 5.2 teraflops and uses a maximum "Boost" frequency up to 1845 MHz, with a power consumption of about 150W.
Radeon RX 5500 cards go on sale next month. The release date has not yet been set, but the cards will certainly be ready if you want to gift them for the upcoming holidays.
