To this day, sixteen years ago, PC players were given TrackMania and her creative set to build crazy tracks.
To this day, sixteen years ago, the TrackMania series was born. The debut title of French developer Nadeo offered PC players arcade racing in several different locations, but unlike most racing games, it also had a trail-making tool that could make some really crazy folders, just like in Excite Bike and V -Rally 2.
The goal of the game was to unlock the money you buy to create your own trails. A total of 87 vehicles could be driven in the game, which were divided into three types: super mini, alpine and muscle cars. However, fans were making the car models themselves and modifying them online, just like the tracks they would create. The races took place in mud, snow and in the desert.
The races at Trackmania were primarily those over time, which meant that the players rode alone on the course, trying to get the lap as fast as possible. However, there were more cars on the track in the multiplayer.
TrackMania has been a success and has secured a few more sequels. One of the more popular was Trackmania Nations, which was distributed free of charge. Since 2011, the series has been owned by Ubisoft and the last game was the 2017 TrackMania Lagoon.
