Payday 3 should be out in three or four years, if there is any money for it

The Starbreeze publishing house shared information about its future plans. The most interesting information for the players is probably the planned release of the third Payday.

The Starbreeze record label nearly went bankrupt last year after the disastrously bad appearance of Overkill's The Walking Dead. That game was one of the biggest failures of 2019, a lot of money was invested in it, and in addition to collecting below-average ratings, it was even worse selling. Ultimately, it forced publishers to begin a complete redevelopment of the company if they wanted to survive. Although their fate is still uncertain, Starbreeze said they have a plan for how and what to do next.

If the company fails in the meantime, then Payday 3 should come out in 2022 or 2023. That would be nine or 10 years from the two. But it's not worth jumping so much in advance right away. In order for the exit to occur at all, it will be necessary to complete some other things, which were outlined at Starbreeze at the same time as the exit story. Thus, 2020 should be dedicated to trying to forge partnerships that will allow them to return to financially stable paths.

It is likely that by 2022, the company will not know with certainty whether the company will survive or not. One of the survival methods will be the release of Payday: Crime War, a mobile phone coming soon. But who they will negotiate with afterwards, and whether other companies will be interested in negotiating with someone whose idea of guiding the sequel is now a six-year-old game (and which is not even covered today), remains to be seen.
