Nvidia opens studio to add raytracing effects to old games

After Quake 2, it looks like Nvidia will be more serious about giving old games the option of ray tracing.

In the middle of the year, the current story was Quake 2, which received a new, upgraded version over the original. It was called Quake 2 RTX and was specific for… raytracing effects. And in order to launch it, the minimum needed is a GTX 2060 graphics card. That even those who have the GTX 2080 complain that their game is doing poorly. And so.

But never mind. It was an experiment.

Then, it seems, Quake 2 RTX was the first, but not the last among the classics to receive this treatment. There is no more detail here, for now, just that one lone ad. Probably something more specific will be known when they gather people in Nvidia for the project. Until then, it's worth the wait, and maybe doing something, so that the kunas can raise money for the current RTX card once Unreal RTX or Doom 3 RTX may possibly come out, which would make sense since these are games that run in the same launcher as Quake 2.
