Max Payne 2 - Love for Pain

To this day, sixteen years ago, Max Payne continued to mourn his unhappy love, Mona Sax, in the continuation of his tragedy.

To this day, 16 years ago, Max Payne 2 was played, a sequel to the successful TPS that popularized the so-called. bullet time slow motion mechanics. The full title of Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, or as smugglers used to describe it: "Love for Pain," the sequel to Max's story has made a comeback with the return of the character Mona Sax, which led the game to the noir romance genre.

Max was not the only playful character here, but we watched the story through the eyes of the aforementioned Mone Sax in several chapters. At several levels, Max also had the help of other NPCs who were mostly consumables and their missions did not affect the status of the mission. In terms of the mechanics of the gunfire, Max was given the opportunity to use grenades as a secondary weapon in this section, and could hit his opponents with a close-up weapon.

As the story unfolded chronologically after the first part, Max is a bit old in this sequel and his appearance has changed. Instead of Sam Lake, also the director of the game himself, Max Payne was modeled on actor Timothy Gibbs in a duel. Some didn't like his new look, but the good news was that his voice remained the same.

Bullet time mechanics have received a few changes below. The performance itself was accompanied by a yellowish image filter, as in an old movie, and the player could have each extended a bit of slow-motion time with each elimination. There was also a special bullet-time animation of gun loading, in which Max would rotate around the axis and avoid all bullets flying toward him.

The game first came out on PC, a month later on the Xbox, and two months later on the then PlayStation 2. The reviews were great, but the sales results are unfortunately very poor. This is also why the Max Payne series then took a break of nine years. Today, Max Payne is in the hands of Rockstar, while his creators continue to work on new tragic and less tragic characters.
