Ten years later, Saints Row 2 can officially be repaired on PC

Saints Row 2 will become playable on today's PCs, ten years after the game's release.

Saints Row 2 is remembered as a fun game - provided you haven't played it on PC. The PC version was an example of a bad port, demanding and problematic at the same time. Things got worse over time, so game compatibility with today's hardware was highly questionable. On top of all that, the game used the Gamespy servers for the online component, which in the meantime shut down.

With all these problems, Saints Row 2 was selling neatly on Steam, and is still on sale. The modding scene has been rescued because the game with modifications has become more and more playful. But ten years later, PC players will still get their justice.

The Volition development team has announced that they will finally repair the PC version of Saints Row 2. Now they can because they have found the game's source code, which has been lost for years. The PC version will finally feature functional online multiplayer, will become compatible with modern hardware, and will finally receive DLC content that was exclusive to consoles a decade ago.

Unfortunately, this will not happen overnight. Only a two-member team is working on this and all repairs are likely to come in 2020 only. But after 10 years of injustice, better than ever!
