Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 - grind on the server
To this day, exactly eighteen years ago, Tony Hawk jumped on the next generation of consoles and launched the next generation of skateboarding video games.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series may have been a surprise in '99, it might not have been believed how good the sequel got next year. But with the third part, there were not too many surprises - we expected a great game and got one of the best skateboarding games ever.
With the move to the then new PlayStation 2 console, the Neversoft development team was given the opportunity to expand the THPS series with new ideas. One of these new ideas was online multiplayer. It was a very rudimentary form of online gaming at the time, but it served a purpose.
Another significant thing was the introduction of a revert trick that, by connecting to the manual, could continue the combo even after leaving the half-pipe. Another novelty that directed the series towards arcade waters was the removal of the so-called. Big Drop, which meant the skater could be successfully met on the ground no matter what height he came down from.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 brought the almost sketched lineup of skateboards out of the duo - only Bob Burnqist missed and was replaced by Bam Marger. The trio also allowed us to create our own skateboards for the first time in the series. The guest characters included Wolverine, Darth Maul and Kelly Slater. The game took us to Brazil, Canada, Japan and Hawaii, but not all levels were available in all versions of the game.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 has garnered great reviews, and with GTA 3 still stands today as the highest rated game for the PlayStation 2 console. In addition to the PS2 version, it came out in a somewhat hollowed-out release for PS1 and N64, and later received releases for PC, Xbox and GameCube. The PlayStation 2 version was sold in over two million copies, making it the 14th best-selling game on the platform.
