Looks like Electronic Arts games are back on Steam

After eight years away from Steam, Electronic Arts games could appear there for the foreseeable future.

For the past eight years, PC Arts games have been exclusively played through their Origin platform. This means that they are not worth discounts on Steam when there are no such games on Steam. However, that could change soon.

As noted by a Twitter user nicknamed lashman, there is a command in the client's Steam test application to run Origin launchers. This means that EA could soon do what Ubisoft has been doing for years - sell games on Steam, but ask players to run them through Origin. It has not been officially confirmed, but it is not the only evidence that it could be true.

Specifically, SteamDB noted that someone on Steam played Electronic Arts' The Saboteur this week. Nothing suspicious, at first, except that this game is not available on Steam at all and never has been. A similar observation was made with the example of a Dragon Age 2 game that was once present on Steam but was removed.

In the event that Electronic Arts games do indeed return to Steam, some episodes may be the first to be sold on Steam. For others, it would mean that we can finally complete the collection in one place, such as for Mass Effect or Dead Space series.
