Studio Ghost Store has been working on its debut for two years, and its recently released ad reveals little more than nothing.
All of Ken Levine's games basically belong to the same category. These are titles where gaming can be accessed in different ways, with relatively non-linear experiences that can be traversed more than once without exhausting all the possibilities. This is the so-called immersive sim, a subgenre of which Bioshock belongs and the slightly older System Shock series.
After finishing work on Bioshock Infinite, Ken Levine establishes a new studio, Ghost Story. So far, they have not completed a single game, and have been working on their first title since 2017. Although it still doesn't know anything specific, such as the topic or location of the action, a recent ad states that it is a title that will be of the same genre as past Levine games.
We are working on a "creatively ambitious project in the immersive sim genre," the ad said, noting that it would be "a game for people who like games that are looking for something."
Nothing else is known about the title at the moment, except that it could be a game that, by type of storytelling, will be more open than Levine's past titles. Non-linear storytelling has been his obsession for the last few years and he has delivered several lectures on the subject. It is to be expected, then, that at least some of these ideas will be found in his work.
