It's confirmed: The cash register at McDonald's can run Doom

Another screen in human history can be used to play the original Doom. However, whoever tries is likely to get fired.

Genuine Doom can be played on just about anything that has a screen - on a screen keyboard, on a smart refrigerator, thermostat, printer, piano ... whatever. It is no surprise, then, that it can be played on computers used at the cash desks of McDonalds fast food restaurants.

In other words, McDonalds is in the process of upgrading its computer equipment, so the US is getting rid of old computers running Windows XP. Nineteen-year-old Ryan Edgar got his hands on the McDonald's box office and did the first thing any conscious gamer would do - launch Doom on it. We know that Doom runs on Windows XP, but to play it still requires the use of a USB splitter to connect the mouse and keyboard.

The version of Doom that Edgar used was the open-source port ZDOOM.
