Destiny 2 is free as of today, and Bungie is already planning future games
Today comes a free version of Bungi's title, called Destiny 2: New Light, and besides planning to properly support it, the studio is already considering where to go after that.
Aside from Destiny 2 getting a new Shadowkeep expansion today, what's even more interesting is that the title is largely free. The release of Destiny 2: New Light marks a major shift in support for the title. Because it's not a crooked version of the game - except it's free, New Light contains all the extras from the first year, including Red War, Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns. And Bungie has plans to expand the content over time, so that this version does not rise from the start. More work will need to be invested here.
At the same time, ideas for a new non-Destiny title are already cooking up in Bungie. The deadline is still quite far - they plan to launch the game by 2025 at the latest, but the CEO has been explicit on this. "We have a pretty clearly defined direction to transform Destiny by then, and we are offering some new franchises in the market," he told IGN. For now, it is not known what kind of franchise could be involved, it is still very tentative, there is still time to define things.
Otherwise, if you don't know, Destiny 2 has been switched from Battle.net to Steam, so now it's a place where you can either download Destiny 2: New Light for free or buy the Shadowkeep expansion. The free version should become playable throughout the day.
