The developer accused of sexual harassment has died

The co-creator of Night in the Woods, Alec Holowka, committed suicide after sexual abuse allegations.

Last week, several people in the video game industry were charged with alleged abuse. One of those was Alec Holowka, co-creator of the indie game Night in the Woods, which has been accused by several different women of sexual assault. The studio in which Holowka worked then decided to stop working with him and cancel the project they were working on. Just days later it was announced that Alec Holowka had passed away.

The cause of Alec Holowke's death has not been announced, but according to his sister's statement, it is likely suicide. His sister, Eileen Mary Holowka, said her brother had struggled with personality disorders all his life and had only recently recovered from therapy and medication. The public lynching that followed allegations of abuse allegedly undone all the progress Holowka had previously made in fighting his illness.

Holowka's sister also said that his illness was not justification for what he was being accused of, but that he had good intentions and that he just needed more time to learn how to express them. She asked everyone not to use his death to now attack the people who accused him of harassment.
