The Xbox will become the first carbon-neutral console
Microsoft has also come up with a plan to conserve the environment with a test program that will reduce the carbon footprint of Xbox consoles.
The "Playing for the Planet" alliance was unveiled yesterday, featuring some 20 companies involved in the production of consoles, video games and gaming services. The association was formed with the aim of contributing to the environment of the video game industry and thus to the fight against climate change. Sony has announced that the next PlayStation will be more energy-efficient, and Microsoft has announced a plan to make the Xbox the first carbon-neutral console.
This means that the next 825,000 Xbox consoles will be manufactured with the aim of reducing CO2 or carbon dioxide production. By neutralizing the carbon footprint of the Xbox console, Microsoft hopes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030.
Microsoft will also try to make Minecraft players environmentally aware by explaining how they can contribute to the responsible use of natural resources, that is, the sustainable development of our planet.
