GOG.com currently has an interplanetary space-themed game sale, and they are also sharing a free copy of the old Freespace 2 SF simulation.
One would think that a game called Freespace 2 is free and on other days you would be wrong. But not today, because you can freely download Freespace 2 without paying for it. This space combat simulation, dating back to 1999, is being shared free of charge on GOG.com until Friday, September 27, afternoon. Once you add it to your collection, it's yours for all time.
Of course, there is a reason why GOG.com shares this game. The Interstellar Sale is currently underway in that store - a campaign that lowers prices for many space-themed games. The offer is mostly made up of older titles that sell for little - just over one euro. But there are also more modern titles, like Stellaris, which you can get for four times the price. You can see the complete offer here.
