Take a look at 50 minutes of Death Stranding gameplay - there's walking, a little more walking and swimming with Norman Reedus

Hideo Kojima and his crew have finally shown us a larger piece of gameplay from the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Death Stranding.

Death Stranding is a bit less mysterious today than it has been before, thanks in large part to the presentation of the gameplay for as little as 50 minutes. Hideo Kojima spoke at the Tokyo Games Show and though he spoke in Japanese - we understood it all!

Admittedly, to understand the meaning of Death Stranding at all, or the ultimate goal in this game, it would be best to look first at the next introduction to the game itself. It was shown to reporters at Gamescom and is now finally available to all, in full quality.

Now, gameplay. The recording is directed and edited, which means it does not show the gameplay in its entirety, but it's easy to see why. Death Stranding is a game that will be walked very often. I am not sure how interesting this will be to people, it will depend on how much the game world is filled with interesting things.

Fortunately, as you will see in the gameplay view, walking (and sprinting) is not the only way to navigate the environment. The main character, among other things, can stand on the hovercraft and use it to move faster, and there is a motorcycle already seen.

But what exactly did we learn from this gameplay? Enough things, in fact, so much so that it will be easier for me to break them down again as hints.

  • Before each mission, the player must prepare himself in terms of choosing which equipment to carry, which is important because all equipment goes to the back and the main character has a limit on how much he can carry.
  • it is important to bring as much equipment as possible because it can be lost during the mission - for example, if you fall into the water, you may lose the package with ladders, etc.
  • equipment can also be shared among players - although we will not see other players in the game, we will be able to leave message items on the map itself, which in theory should be rewarded with "likes" which are currency for ... something
  • There are ways to lighten the load, so the player can use the floating trolley that carries the load and tracks it, can use the Active Skeleton extension that allows it to jump and run faster
  • every now and then we will have to find time to rest, and in those moments, the main character can be massaged, bathed, or slept to restore energy and stamina
  • in enemy camps we will be able to unlock the storage terminals of the shipments we carry
  • There will be several ways of fighting enemies: using long range weapons, throwing grenades, throwing suitcases in which we carry a shipment, fighting chest to chest, etc.
  • when BTs appear, supernatural beings to be avoided, the player can catch his breath to avoid being detected
  • in case the player ends up in the so called. a limbo between two lives and he has to fight some dark monster, other players can help him by throwing items at him, such as a blood bag (which recovers energy)
  • players can leave danger, type of terrain, guidelines, etc. on the map - just like in Dark Souls

This is not all we'll see from Death Stranding this week. On the morning of September 14, another half hour of gameplay footage arrives.
