Additional content for Anthem has been put aside again as BioWare repairs the game
BioWare has announced that it is once again changing its plan for additional content for the unhappy Anthem. Now we will no longer see regular chapters but seasonal updates.
The future of an SF game called Anthem is again questionable. The BioWare development team has been several times late this year in delivering the extra content they promised, and now they have changed the plan once again. An official blog says the development focus will now be on fixing key things in the game, which is why we will see more content less frequently.
BioWare plans to work on balancing the fight and sorting out the gaming economy, and these are long-term works that will cause additional content to be delivered in a chapter / act format rather than seasonally. This means that extensions will no longer be in sequence, but will be tied to one major update. We do not know on what basis - quarterly, semi-annually, annually ... we only know that new seasonal content is coming to the end of 2019.
BioWare probably switched to this format to stay away from previous promises they were unable to deliver. With regular content, they are already late, so it is best that no one knows when new content will come because then no one can even complain about it if they are late. And if new content is not announced in advance, it will probably be easier to accept the potential euthanasia of the game by Electronic Arts if / when it occurs.
It wouldn't be the first time, the same scenario we already had with DLC extensions for Mass Effect: Andromeda.
