Spider-Man returns to the Marvel movie universe, for now

Sony Pictures and Marvel have put their disagreements aside so the Spider-Man character can return to the Marvel movie universe.

Last summer, the most shocking divorce on the scene was the one between Sony Pictures and Marvel who were arguing over money, so Sony, which holds the rights to the movie Spider-Man, decided to pick up their toy and go home. But Marvel and its parent Disney are still a popular society that everyone wants to be in, so someone eventually reached out for a reconciliation and it was agreed last night that Spider-Man would remain in the Marvel movie universe.

Admittedly, the plans are not very long-term. Marvel Studios and its leader Kevin Feige will produce the third Spider-Man movie for 2021, Tom Holland remains the lead actor, and Spider-Man will also appear in another Marvel Universe movie (not stated in which).

It seems that Sony has relented in this whole story. Specifically, new revenue sharing arrangements have been agreed, with Marvel / Disney gaining 25% of profits from a future movie, significantly more than before. Merchandising rights remain with Disney and the proceeds go solely to that company.

So, there will be no major changes in the life of Spider-Man, at least not on a business plan. This also means that the next movie will continue directly on Spider-Man: Far From Home and its rather large cliffhanger.

As for the feud between Sony and Marvel, many will be happy that it all ended with a happy outcome. I'm happy that it happened, because if it hadn't, we wouldn't have had this reaction by Jeff Goldblum, who is some of the best on the internet this year.
