Borderlands 3 made a great start in sales

2K Games has boasted that Borderlands 3 has already set several records in its first week of sales.

Although some will say that Borderlands 3 as the first game made for this generation of consoles did not make a big enough leap over its predecessors, though it is a shame that the game performed poorly on consoles (and poorly optimized on PC)… Borderlands 3 breaks records on sale for 2K Games. More than five million copies of Borderlands 3 were sold in the first week.

This made Borderlands 3 the fastest-selling game of 2K Games, a publisher that has BioShock, Mafia, Civilization and many other series under its auspices. In doing so, the total revenue of the Borderlands series exceeded $ 1 billion, and for 2K Games it is the second series to ever make it - NBA 2K is the first.

This result is an indication that the publisher did a good job with marketing and promotion - primarily because the game was promoted at Fortnite. Despite all the controversy with the PC version and exclusivity for the Epic Games Store, sales of the PC version in the first five days were higher than the sales of any other 2K Games on PC. It's become the most pre-order game on the Epic Games Store, as well as the most pre-order game in 2K Games history.

Finally, it is interesting to note that in the first week, 70% of the copies sold were digital, which is never a higher percentage for a single high-budget game.
