The Sports Interactive development team has decided on an atypical move by deciding to pack the new Football Manager to environmentally friendly standards.
Some players believe that Football Manager 2020 will be a recycling of the previous version with some minimal changes. We still can't confirm it, but it's interesting that the Sports Interactive team has really opted for recycling - just other types.
Specifically, Football Manager 2020 will be the first game that will not come in a plastic box in the standard physical edition. Instead, the game will have eco-friendly packaging made from recycled cardboard. Everything in this package is designed to be environmentally friendly, including the foil the cardboard is wrapped in and an instruction booklet.
It is interesting that SEGA has opted for such packaging, despite the fact that it is 30% more expensive than non-recyclable plastic packaging. That is, it is more expensive to produce, but the game itself will not be more expensive for customers.
The creator of Football Manager hopes to set an example for other companies with the intention of contributing to environmental protection and climate change through more environmentally friendly game packages. To that end, they hired the famous footballer Hector Bellerin, who described how important this is for the gaming industry.
