It has been revealed that Valve will fight Epic Games stealing games from Steam

Valve quietly added one item in terms of using Steam for developers. This should prevent the sale of games on Steam in the future if they are exclusive to other platforms.

Valve and Epic Games are in a fierce battle for both users and games. Epic Games splits money everywhere, and while Steam is still at a significant advantage both in number of games and in number of users, the attitude of Valve people is that they do not plan to compete in a game called exclusivity. Still, it doesn't seem like they're going to sit cross-legged and watch Epic Games rip off the games on offer.

Specifically, it is noted that Valve recently added one item to its distribution deal on Steam. There are several things that condition this item. For one thing, game creators and publishers are prohibited from having a Steam game page and selling / promoting the game on Steam unless it is released on the same platform as other platforms. That is, it will no longer happen that the game is being promoted on Steam, and later we find out that it has become exclusive to the Epic Games Store and that it will be delayed on Steam. In the event that this happens, the game publisher will probably have to pay a penalty.

Secondly, games that have already been launched on other platforms (stores) and only subsequently arrive on Steam should not be promoted on Steam until 30 days prior to release on Steam. That is, games that were initially announced as exclusive to the Epic Games Store may no longer have a page on Steam until 30 days have passed until the same page appears on Steam.

This is unlikely to help Valve stop Epic Games from spending money on temporary exclusives, but it will therefore protect Steam users. Specifically, it has been happening more and more frequently for Steam game buyers to sign up since their publisher has agreed with Epic Games. For example, in this month's WRC 8 game, players learned just a week before its release that the game became exclusive to the Epic Games Store and would not be available on Steam for another year.
