Crossroads Inn is an unusual game that puts the player in the role of a tavern manager in a fantasy world called Delcrys.
The moment the monster is killed and the adventurer seeks rest, he enters the tavern. A familiar sight greets him there. A darkened room, illuminated only by the dim glow of the fire burning in the hearth. Next to her is a dry bard that goes through the chords on the harp, while drunk guests at the bar shout words, almost always wrong. The smell of smoke and beer. Noise and murmur. In a darkened corner, two gamblers lean over their card game, one more grumpy than the other. One for lost money, the other for love. But when he sees the adventurer, the tavern manager is exasperated. And how could he not - look hell, he got a new guest. Certainly not the first, the room is already crowded anyway. And the night had just begun.
I've played enough RPGs to make this roughly the scene I expect when entering a tavern. Then I expect a place full of life. I don't remember ever seeing an empty tavern, a tavern with no guests, in which the owner complains about his financial condition, that he can't sell a glass of beer. And it is strange because when I think about it, there should be taverns like this. Because at a time when monsters, and therefore adventurers, are about to be thrown, a bunch of people should want to take advantage of that fact. And since every adventurer needs a vacation, what better way than to open a tavern? Then there should be them everywhere, they should pop up on every corner, if nothing else then at least in the form of abandoned buildings with the inscription CLOSED. Just as there are successful taverns, there should be some unsuccessful ones.
But if they exist, such taverns have never been shown. As a rule, even the largest cities have one, maybe two tavernas. And they are always successful. What is the key to their success? How are they different from the unsuccessful ones? This is not known. And you should know. And it will be known from October 23 when the Crossroads Inn game is out. It runs a tavern in the fantastic world of Delcrys. As the goal is to turn that tavern into a successful tavern, maybe this is the game that will answer my question. It will cost 20 euros. It will be available on PC. It will have two modes, a free sandbox and a campaign with a drama story. Or any other story.
