Microsoft has introduced new options that may limit or prohibit you from playing video games

The App and Game Limits Family Settings plugin will allow parents to restrict or prohibit their children from playing video games on PC and Xbox.

Microsoft has announced plans to help parents who cannot cope with their children, more specifically their video game habit. For Windows 10 and Xbox One, they introduced the "App and Game Limits" plugin, which lets you set the restrictions and barriers for every installed app on your PC or console in great detail.

For example, you can limit the playing time separately on weekdays and weekends, but also use other applications, such as Netflix, etc. So far, with Microsoft settings, only the total duration of use of the device or "screen time" could be limited, and in the future parents will have more opportunities in setting limits.

Parents will also be able to receive reports on how often their child uses which application, while children will be able to request the parent for additional time to use the application / game.

On Xbox consoles, this will work for all applications and games. On the PC, though, the situation is a little different and will only apply to applications from the Microsoft Store, which means that this way you probably won't be able to limit playing games on Steam and a hundred other launchers.
