FIFA 20 already has 10 million players

EA Sports boasted that more than ten million players played in Fifa 20 in less than a month.

EA Sports does not publicly disclose sales and player numbers in its FIFA games, but today they have made an exception. Maybe they wanted to cover up the recent leak with the data of 1600 players, maybe they just wanted the press to write about the success of the game, not some less fortunate things like the many bugs in Career mode. In any case, they publicly boasted that ten million players had played the game in the first twenty days (or 13 in regular sales).

It has been revealed that half of these players have played the new Volta mode at least once, making it the second most popular mode in the game. The first is Ultimate Team mode, of course, which EA Sports says is more successful than ever before, with over 272 million matches already played. Overall, 450 million matches were played and 1.2 billion goals scored.

The reason why EA Sports presents this information this way rather than selling the game is probably because the game sales could be slightly lower than last year. However, it looks better to investors when it comes to saying that the game has more players, though the question is how many are actually left with the game itself. Specifically, the number of 10 million includes those who tried the game through a 10-hour trial on Origin / EA Access, but may not have even set aside linders for the game itself afterwards.

It is possible that EA Sports wants to keep people in the game at all costs, so on this occasion they have promised rewards for loyal fans. Namely, if you play Fifa 20 by October 17th, whether you are an old player or a new player, the game will reward you with 8000 Volt coins with which you can buy some piece of merchandise in Volta mode to express your fashion awareness.
