Cross-play might come to Overwatch, but it's harder than it looks
The Overwatch producer was asked what the plans were for introducing cross-play into the title, and he did not close the possibility.
Both PUBG and Fortnite have cross-play support, and will have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare coming this month. Only Overwatch seems to be gone. And quite a popular title. It would be a shame then to keep it that way.
This month, for the most part, Overwatch's Legendary Edition for the Nintendo Switch is coming out. After that, it will be present on all current platforms. And then cross-play would be very welcome here - as the Gamespot team was aware of, which asked Wes Yanagi, the lead producer of the title.
The conclusion is quite simple. Although cross-play may one day arrive in Overwatch, it won't be that soon. Even Yagan himself says that there is no specific information to share, which is a practical and sure sign that he has just begun to think about it and nothing more.
