By the end of this month, Sony will stop providing support through the official PlayStation Console Forum.
The internet has long been rumored to be dead on the internet, and Sony has heard and believed the claim. That there will be no more love for the official PlayStation.com forum was announced on Valentine's Day only, with a very brief announcement stating that the PlayStation forum is shutting down on February 27 this year.
The statement said that all discussion about all things related to PlayStation should be moved to comments on the official PlayStation Blog, Twitter profile and Instagram. Customers who need help and support regarding some technical issues with PlayStation consoles are directed to customer service, which can be answered by email or telephone.
Although some users will definitely not be pleased with this decision, this is not a precedent. More and more companies are shifting official communication to newer platforms, such as social networks or Discord servers. Older players sometimes find this wrong and sad because the forums used to have “something of their own”, and based on many, some successful projects have emerged, including the portal you are on.
