Another attempt to bring Red Dead Redemption to PC was shut down

Take Two Interactive has requested that the development of a custom Red Dead Redemption remaster project for PC be discontinued.

It's a bit tragic that Red Dead Redemption didn't get its PC release. Through these nine years, we have come to see that the game can be played on PC, but only bypassing the paths of streaming or emulation. Neither of these game modes delivers the treatment we would normally expect from a PC version.

One modder, therefore, got down to business and announced the unofficial remaster of the first RDR. The idea behind the mod, nicknamed DamnedDev, relied on emulation through RPCS3 and Xenia emulators, and the project actually included new textures for the game, better shading, more detailed models, and a refined interface.

However, there will be nothing from that makeup project of RDR. Modder was contacted by representatives of Take Two, and politely asked him to stop doing what he was doing.

It is clear, of course, that the game emulation is actually a gray zone and that the publisher has the right to react to such things. Still, it's always a bad thing when projects like this get blocked, and then the publisher then does nothing to provide an official alternative.
