Dead Island - zombies on the annual

Today, exactly eight years ago, the first Dead Island game was launched to bring open-world zombies to cooperative darkening.

Zombie cooperative hitting was still eight years ago, but a game called Dead Island still came to prominence when it appeared on PCs and seventh-generation consoles. In fact, Dead Island put players in the open world, that is, an island that could be moved and used by vehicles, and unlike Dead Rising, it was a bit of a scary title.

Dead Island was actually the first zombie game by a Techland Polish studio to previously work on the western series Call of Juarez. The game stood out immediately after the announcement thanks to a CG trailer that started shockingly and then turned the action backwards. At the time, it was an example of a very imaginatively done trailer.

The game itself didn't look as impressive as it did on the first trailer, but the zombies were fun to piece together with the weapons we put together. At that time we were not afraid of microtransactions, loot box rewards and similar exploitation mechanics.

Dead Island itself has proven to be profitable for the Poles, so the faster-the-better expansion, Dead Island Riptide, and afterwards a few worse spin-off titles. Five years ago, a sequel was announced, which was left to the other team, but to this day there has been nothing. Techland, however, has switched to a brand new franchise and merged the zombies with parkour mechanics at Dying Light, which could be considered the true heir to Dead Island.
