Electronic Arts has secretly raised the prices of old games on Steam
For some reason, Electronic Arts has decided to raise the prices of its older games on Steam.
Last year, PC gamers cheered with the news that Electronic Arts games would return to the Steam platform, with some coming up for the first time in the future. However, EA would not be EA if EA were not EA. They seemed to think of a tactic to get players to buy on Origin instead of on Steam, even though they sell the same games here and there.
The tactic is simple - games on Steam will sell at a higher price.
Overnight, it was noted that older games, which had been sold on Steam for years, suddenly went up. Not for a few cents, but in some cases double.
Specifically, SimCity 4: Deluxe once cost € 10 and now costs € 20. Crysis 2 costs 30 euros instead of 20 euros (almost a decade old). Mirror's Edge, which used to be available for only two euros at a discount, now costs 20 euros. The Dead Space unit and the pair, Dragon Age: Origins and C&C: Red Alert 3 also went up.
Buying these games on Steam now doesn't make much sense, since they are offered as part of Origin Access for only four euros a month. Probably that is the reason for the price increase, because Access will soon be available via Steam as well. So how else to increase the value of the same than by increasing the price of games on a regular basis?
