Respawn mechanics almost ended at Rainbow Six Siege

Many FPS titles have the option of reswpan, and the lack of the same features the most Ubisoft esports game. But now we have learned that someone from the top of Ubisoft wanted to shut this whole idea down.

As you probably know, Rainbow Six Siege is a first-person tactical shooter where attackers have to stop defensive players. About 55 million people have played the game so far and it has grown into a rather popular and respected title. One of the special features of this FPS is that it has no respawning, so tactic is the most important part of playing.

The game's chief designer, Jean-Baptiste Hall, said in the latest Ubisoft video that there was an idea in the process of making the R6 Siege that players within the game had the ability to respond. Someone from the top of the French company was reportedly looking for the option, thinking it would greatly help the game's popularity, but the developers managed to fight for their own.

"I know someone at the top of Ubisoft who claimed that the game without respawn mechanics would be suspended. I'm really glad he was wrong. The game without respawning seemed like it would not pass the first test. In the very beginning, when we tested with players, we saw that they move, listen and monitor events in different ways, which is an indicator of greater tension, "he said.

Game director Leroy Athanassoff is of the same opinion as his colleague: “Let's say I know I have a respawn option, I would run around the map and try to learn it that way. I wouldn’t care about opponents who kill me because I could always come back. Obviously, respawn games are player-friendly. They are more acceptable and not so scary, but the experience of playing them is not the same as in those without the option. "

Rainbow Six Siege came out in December 2015 in pretty bad shape. When they realized from Ubisoft how much the players loved the game and that it could become one of the (most) major esport titles, they decided to fix it. Although not perfect, it is in much better shape today, as shown by the increasing number of players and better prize pools in competitions.
