King's Bounty II imitates Witcher 3 until the fight begins

We got the first gameplay preview from the upcoming tactical RPG of King's Bounty II, and it's hard to get rid of the impression that The Witcher series was a major role model.

The original King's Bounty was a role model for a series later celebrated as Heroes of Might & Magic. Today, King's Bounty is far less well known, so the upcoming King's Bounty II uses what is popular in other games, primarily directed animation to interact with the characters.

We just got a first look at the gameplay of the game in the just-released development log, and although these are just pre-alpha footage, it's hard to get the impression that The Witcher 3 was the main inspiration. Of course, I think of this primarily because of the very similar mini-folder in the upper right corner, as well as the task list below. The camera is also very similarly positioned in directed animations, and it is perhaps best seen that 1C Entertainment is not a CD Projekt Red.

However, it is far from being a copy of Witcher. King's Bounty II, however, is a tactical RPG with a significantly different combat performance. We also get a chance to see her in this video as game makers explain to us what factors influence battle advantage and how unit grouping works.
