Gothic remake for PC and consoles has been announced

The Gothic trial demo that came out last year, however, will grow into a complete game, confirmed THQ Nordic.

At the end of 2019, the owners of the original Gothic RPG on Steam were given the opportunity to play a demo of a modern rework of the same and decide, with their reactions, whether the project would come to life as a complete game. Although fan reactions were initially divisive, THQ Nordic claimed that 94.8% of fans expressed a desire for Gothic to get its remake after 19 years since it first aired.

So the Gothic rework has been given the green light for full production, and we can now expect it sometime beyond 2020. Unlike the original, which was PC exclusive, the rework will also be available for consoles, whatever is current at launch. The negative criticisms from the demo version were precisely due to the fact that many of the mechanics in the demo version were designed specifically for consoles, that is, the controller, including a fight that in part mimics the fencing from For Honor.

What the developers have decided to change based on player feedback is the colorful world of the demo. What is seen in the pictures and in the trailer is the old state, while the full release of the game will be darker and closer to the aesthetics of the original Gothic.
