Red Dead Redemption 2 finally came out on PC - and has immediate problems with crashes

Red Dead Redemption 2 greeted some PC players with an unpleasant surprise. The game immediately crashes on startup.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PC platform as of this afternoon. While some are already passionate about playing it, the launch of the game was not very cheerful to others. An insignificant number of users report that their game crashes as soon as they launch, with the message that they contact Rockstar customer support for a solution.

The problem seems to be antivirus protection, so if you are using it, try temporarily turning off the security or adding an RDR 2 executable file to the list of allowed exceptions for that antivirus program.

Unfortunately, this is not the only problem that has been reported. For some, the game freezes while playing, and sound crashes. It is therefore best to play in boarderless window mode and using the DirectX 12 mode instead of the Vulkan API.

If you have trouble running the game, also keep in mind that you should update your graphics card drivers. Both Nvidia and AMD have launched new versions of their drivers, so be sure to use the latest versions of them to minimize performance issues.
