The first picture of the PlayStation 5 controller reveals that it ate too much cake for Christmas

The PlayStation 5 controller, which we've only seen in patent designs so far, got its first leaked photo online. And it's a bit chubby than the DualShock 4.

Sony has not yet revealed the final design of the PlayStation 5 or the DualShock 5 controller that we will get in the box with this new console, but a photo of a working version of the PS5 controller on the developer table that already has PS5 DevKit has just leaked to the Internet.

In the picture, we see that the controller for the PS4 is remarkably similar to the DualShock 4, but it works somehow thicker on the handles - as if overdone with cookies for Christmas. In addition, the touchpad looks larger and flatter than the DualShock 4, and the fact that the right buttons lack classic PlayStation iconography can probably be attributed to the fact that this is not exactly the final version of the PS5 controller.

Moreover, with this in mind, it is quite possible that this is not even the final form of the PlayStation 5 controller. It is quite possible that this is a DevKit version of a new controller intended for use only by developers who are secretly already developing the first games for the PlayStation 5. Also in the leaked images we can see the already seen PlayStation 5 DevKit, or the developer version of the new console, which certainly does not have any links to the actual final design of the PlayStation 5.

Admittedly, it is easily possible that the basic shape of the controller as we see in this first image is truly final, and that the final version of DualShock 5 will have only slightly different textures, that is, plastics and ornaments that make up the finish for the market. We've already written about a patent that has recently made its way to the open internet, suggesting a slightly thicker form of controller for the PlayStation 5, as well as additional features like a microphone on the controller itself and additional buttons on the back.

On the one hand, it's good that Sony doesn't plan for radical changes with the controller we love, but on the other, we're a little sad that they aren't trying something crazy and fresh in Nintendo style.

What do you think about all this?
