Still a change of plan - Pokémon Sword and Shield will receive 200 additional Pokémon
Nintendo and Game Freak are changing the model for Pokémon, but also the previous notion that it won't include old types of Pokémon in new games.
It seems that the croaking and complaining about the Dexit affair has been somewhat fruitful, as the creators of Pokémon have changed their mind about deciding not to add old types of Pokémon to new games. As usual, the issue has been recognized for profit, so the Game Freak development team will nevertheless insert 200 additional Pokémon into the Pokémon Sword and Shield. But they will also be charged extra.
Specifically, we won't see a new release of Pokémon in 2020, and instead DLCs and expansions are waiting for us. Two such extensions are currently planned, and will cost € 30 in the package.
First is The Isle of Armor, an expansion that arrives in the sixth month of 2020, and brings in a new region, new clothing, additional rivals, and new Gigantamax forms of existing Pokémon, including Blastoise and Venosaur. The second is the expansion of the Crow Tundra, planned for the fall of 2020, which brings a new region and opportunity for cooperative exploration with other players.
Some of these expansions can be tried out now by updating the game.
As for the additional Pokémon, there are a few new ones coming along with some existing species. The good news is that for added Pokémon, you won't have to buy expansions to include them in your collection. Specifically, you will be able to get additional Pokémon by exchanging with other players who have purchased expansions, and the somewhat easier option is to transfer them from Pokémon GO if you have them caught there.
