Warcraft 3: Reforged has managed to anger even those who didn't intend to buy the game

The Warcraft 3 remaster did not delight fans. Quite the opposite - almost everything that could go wrong went wrong.

One would think that the remaster of the cult strategy game Warcraft III is more difficult to mess up than to do right. I mean, they said they wouldn't touch the gameplay - all they had to do was improve the graphics and integrate some new stuff into multiplayer from a technical point of view. And indeed, at Blizzard they did. But they also once again managed to annoy the fans.

Namely, classic Warcraft 3 and Warcraft 3: Reforged have merged into one client, primarily to keep the player community split, but everyone to play multiplayer regardless of whether they are playing with the old Classic version graphics or with the new Reforged graphics. However, this unification has taken more things away from classic Warcraft 3 than it did. So, those who have not purchased the remaster or are not planning it will still get the disadvantages of the classic version.

Automated tournaments, clans, player profiles, online rankings, custom campaigns, 3D campaign backgrounds, 3D character backgrounds, slash chat commands and a few other things that were present in classic Warcraft 3 were removed from Reforged so far. The only useful thing that Reforged has brought is a matchmaking system based on player skill.

The lack of a number of things from the original will certainly be corrected over time, but it's not the only thing that has annoyed fans. Specifically, it has been revealed that Blizzard is now claiming all moral rights to custom games in Warcraft 3. So, any content created by users within Warcraft 3 is unconditionally owned by Blizzard and may be monetized without compensation to the creators of such content. .

With this move, Blizzard secured itself from the situation of making a separate game through Warcraft 3, as the DOTA series was originally created. And although such an intention can be understood, it automatically means that no custom games that contain something from other, third-party games are allowed, and censorship in game names and folders is enhanced.

Overall, dissatisfaction with these things is best seen on the user rating of Warcraft III: Reforged on Metacritic, where more than 1,500 users rated the game an average rating of 1.5.
