The official League of Legends forum is shutting down
Another significant forum will officially become the past. The main forum for League of Legends will cease to exist in mid-month.
Again the same urge to introduce this news: Like it or not, separate online forums are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Long ago, BioWare shut down its official forum, and just a few days ago, the PlayStation Console Support Forum was shut down. Now it is announced that the forum for the popular League of Legends MOBA game will soon be shut down.
The official LoL forum will be active until next Monday, March 9, after which it will become read-only for old posts. This will take a little over a week, then on 16 March the entire forum will be shut down and all topics and discussions deleted as if they had never been. Admittedly, the community of LoL players has already started gathering with the intention of keeping some things off the official forum.
In a rationale for the move, Riot Games said the decision was not easy because the forum had been around for a full decade, but it became clear that most users had migrated to platforms such as Discord and Reddit. There, LoL-related communication will resume once the forum is shut down.
