Avatar movie recording is paused
In the highly anticipated sequence of events, production of new films, and probably games from the Avatar series, was temporarily halted.
Unsurprisingly, the fear of the spread of coronaviruses further suspended the filming of the Avatar series. Producer Jon Landau confirmed this in the midst of filming in New Zealand alone. Avatar has thus joined many other films and series whose production was interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
For Avatar, this could be an extra jolt as more than ten years have been waiting for the sequel to the first film, and it has been delayed so many times that even director James Cameron himself cannot keep up. Technically speaking, this may not have any consequences at all on the premiere date, as the movie should only arrive at the end of 2021. However, it should come as no surprise to us that all Avatars are ultimately moved in a year, and when we say all, then we all mean Avatar 5 which would then come in 2028 - who is alive, who is dead.
Otherwise, one should not forget that accompanying Avatar video games are in the pipeline. More specifically, one such is being developed by the Ubisoft Massive team, the creators of the Division Series. While this delay probably doesn't bother them much, it's to be expected that we won't see this game before we see the Avatar 2 movie.
