New Formula 1 games are coming, but we will not be driving cars

After the dinosaur, zoo and amusement park attractions, we will now follow the Formula One brand.

Formula One is considered one of the world's most famous brands and it's time to break into the management genre to get the first full-blown game of its kind. That's what Frontier Developments, a publisher known for just such video games, thinks at least. The British studio managed to reach an agreement with the leaders of the fastest circus in the world.

After lengthy negotiations, it was agreed that Frontier Developments would make four F1 games. The first is scheduled for 2022, while the rest is due by 2025. The Formula 1 game, which has been planned for two years, will appear on computers and consoles. Although four are planned, the creation of new F1 video games after 2022 will depend on the sales and performance of the unnamed first game.

Of course, all of these games will be of the management genre, while driving simulations will continue to be done by the Codemasters team.

"We are happy to confirm that we have been awarded a Formula 1 license for many years. F1 is one of the most popular sporting events in the world, and we believe that by combining their brand and our experience in management games, we will deliver a fantastic experience to audiences around the world, "said Frontier Chief David Braben.

The Cambridge-based studio has produced a number of popular titles and has become synonymous with this type of genre. The last big game presented to fans is the highly successful Planet Zoo. Previously, they released Jurassic World: Evolution, which has become a popular series on our YouTube channel, and Planet Coaster and Elite: Dangerous.

Among other things, Frontier Developments has signed a contract committing to release five new projects. Two large IPs are slated for release in 2022 across all gaming platforms. Not all of the projects are known, but studies show that they will be of great importance.
