The free shooter Valorant, the creator of LoL, is out this summer

Former Project A directed by Riot Games has been unveiled as Valorant, a competitive F2P shooter that rewards fast reflexes and precision.

Riot Games has revealed the most important details of its next game that has nothing to do with League of Legends. As speculated, the game will be called Valorant and will be free to play on PC. It will be a competitive Counter-Strike shooter where accuracy and responsiveness will be rewarded. So expect a game with a low TTK, that is, the small amount of time it takes to eliminate an opponent in combat.

Valorant is a tactical shooter of format 5 against 5. Players control characters of different classes and skills. There will be about 10 characters available after the game launches this summer, and new ones will be added over time. As far as mods are concerned, there will be only one game initially called Bomb Defusal. In it, one team must place a bomb at a specific location on the map, and another must defend it.

The characters and their skills in Valorant are a little different than in similar hero shooters. For starters, here the characters are not limited to their weapons, but before each round weapons can be purchased in different classes: pistols, shotguns, SMGs, snipers, machine guns, cold weapons like knives, etc. Furthermore, the special skills of the characters will not have great significance as in Overwatch, for example, because the most powerful attacks have a long cooldown that can take several rounds.

The characters in Valorant are as follows: Owl, Phoenix, Cypher, Jett, Viper, Brimstone, Sage and Omen. Each has 2-3 specific skills and abilities and one ultimate attack. Each character is destined for some kind of play. For example, Jett is for those players who like to ambush, Cypher is for those who like to trap and lure opponents into them, Sage is a doctor, and Omen is a "magician" who can teleport around the map.

All of these characters will be available to the player through gameplay, which means they will not have to be bought with real money, but they will not all be available immediately but will have to be unlocked by playing. It has not yet been confirmed what will be bought by microtransactions, but Riot Games says that these will not be things that will favor gameplay.

The valorant should pay particular attention to the anti-cheating system and the lag reduction system. The game will use a new anti-cheat system integrated into the core, so hacking shouldn't be a problem, but it will be seen when the game comes out.

Special servers with a tickrate of 128 will be used to reduce the lag, which is twice what CS: GO uses. There will also be a global Riot Direct network infrastructure in use, which is also used for League of Legends to help find players quickly and keep matches stable.

We will play Valorant in the summer of 2020, but before that there will be a beta test for which no date is currently announced.
