The PlayStation 5 will supposedly be able to adjust the vibration of the controller

Judging by another patent from Sony, PlayStation 5 users will be able to choose the vibration level of the game controller for the first time.

There is a lot of talk about the PlayStation 5 console and controller for it, but mostly nothing official or confirmed. We have heard that the controller will have an accessory that will accompany the sweating of the palms of the players, so it was previously rumored that it would remove the luminescent tip present on DualShock 4 controllers. So far, these are just rumors, and it has only been confirmed that the controller will use USB-C for charging, that it will have trigger buttons with adjustable resistance levels and a haptic vibration form. This is where the latest rumor comes in, again on the basis of a patent they have applied for at Sony.

Without going into the details of how the new vibration system supposedly works on the controller for the PS5, we can extract one thing from the patent. It seems that players on the PlayStation 5 will be able to determine the vibration level of the controller for each game. So, it will be possible to adjust the power of the controller to vibrate.

I know what you are going to say - the kind of thing that has been available in the sex toy world since time immemorial. This is true, but it is also true that on PlayStation consoles the player was never able to adjust the vibration volume of the controller. At least at the system level of the console itself. Some games have this setting, but in the vast majority of games this comes down to the setting whether the vibration is on or completely off.

It is worth noting that such is not a new or revolutionary thing on the technological side. And current controllers are able to achieve different levels of vibration, which you can easily test with the DS4Windows application in the case of the PS4 controller. The novelty is probably that the PlayStation 5 controller will be more flexible. Sony has previously promised that through the new vibration system, we will be able to sense the difference between different types of vibration - for example, the controller will behave differently when moving the game car across the grass and over a sandy surface.
