Call of Duty Warzone is a free battle royale game for PC and consoles

While everyone was expecting battle royale mode inside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the plan seems different - CoD: Warzone will be a separate and free game.

Call of Duty really gets another battle royale mode. But what was supposed to be standard procedure eventually turned into an unexpected twist. Namely, battle royale called Warzone is not really a mode for CoD: Modern Warfare - it's a separate game, and it's also free to play. So you don't have to have Modern Warfare or any other Call of Duty to play Call of Duty: Warzone.

And no, it's not on cell phones, but on PC, PS4 and XBO platforms. To make things better, it has the same crossplay option as Modern Warfare which means players can play together / against each other regardless of the platform on which they play.

The only potential barrier to completely free gaming is that on CoD: Warzone consoles it requires that you have an active subscription to PS Plus or Xbox Live Gold.

Warzone supports matches of up to 150 players (though that number may increase to 200), and the game formats will be solo, in a two-member and three-member team. There will initially be two game modes - classic and Plunder. There will be a revival system in Plunder, or respawn, but it will be purchased using a virtual currency called Plunder. Equipment is purchased in the same currency.

But there is another respawn option in Plunder in case you have no money. It's called Gulag and is available when you are first eliminated in the game. Then you go to a prison of sorts where you face a 1 on 1 showdown with another player. Whoever comes out alive from that battle returns to the match. It is also possible for more team members to be in the Gulag at the same time, and when one fight is over, the other can watch the fight from above and communicate to his teammate where his opponent is. Moreover, while watching a 1v1 showdown, you can throw rocks at your opponent's opponent. An interesting concept, I must admit.

Warzone has one folder that is huge but not generically compiled. The classic Call of Duty folders are incorporated into it, so a slight advantage is given to those players who already know them. Broadcast, Scrapyard and Terminal are there, but there are also brand new locations. It has been confirmed that different vehicles will be allowed to drive on the map.

Those who have had the chance to play the game say it is faster than the classic Call of Duty, and especially Blackout mode in Black Ops 4. One of the main reasons for this is the streamlined process of collecting equipment, namely the lotto, which is fast-paced in Warzone.

No specific release date for the game has been revealed so far, but it is said to be out very soon.
