The Nintendo Play Station is the most expensive paid console in history

Auction ended for a console prototype auction jointly developed by Sony and Nintendo in the early 1990s.

A public auction for the rarest console ever made - Nintendo Play Station - has concluded. The 1991 console prototype, considered the only one known in circulation, was eventually sold for $ 360,000. It also set a new record, making Nintendo Play Station the most expensive gaming souvenir ever to be auctioned.

The buyer wanted to remain anonymous so it is not known to whom this piece of gaming history now belongs. It seemed at one point that the console would be sold for an even greater amount of $ 420,000, but one of the potential buyers withdrew its offer. Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus VR, was also one of the participants in the auction, but he didn't seem to have paid a third of a million for the old console.
