The new patent for the PlayStation 5 controller shows two additional buttons

If the designs from the approved patent for the new PlayStation controller are to be believed, Sony could include two additional buttons on the controller.

The entry of WIPO, the World Intellectual Property Organization, these days has found a new patent from Sony, where we see the potential appearance of a new controller for the PlayStation 5. I say potential, because this is not the first patent for the so-called. DualShock 5, and some aspects of this aren't quite in sync with what we've seen before. For example, there was a mention of the removal of the light part on top of the controller, which was not confirmed in the last patent. This is why this kind of information is not always reliable, but gives an insight into what the creators of the next PlayStation are thinking about.

If the last patent is to be believed, Sony is considering introducing two additional buttons on the back of the controller. These two buttons very likely should be optional, that is, they can be programmed to "mimic" any other buttons on the controller. For example, if you are uncomfortable with your thumb to press the "mushrooms" for the R3 or L3 keys, it would be possible to transfer them to the back of the controller with this scheme.

The reason why this is not some science fiction lies in the fact that Sony has already announced these two additional buttons - for the DualShock 4 controller. However, for DualShock 4 this will be done through an optional plug-in that is inserted into the controller itself, while this patent shows the integration of additional keys directly on the controller.

Admittedly, this is not at all a patent for the PlayStation 5 controller, but for some revision of the DualShock 4, but in that case it would be doubtful if Sony did such controller revisions a year before the brand new console was released. Either way, we'll probably find out the truth about this in the next few months.
