The PlayStation 4 controller comes with the official add-on for demanding players

Sony has announced the official expansion for the DualShock 4 controller, the first since the PlayStation 4 is in circulation. The so-called Back Button Attachment brings two additional buttons and remembers up to three different profiles for a single game.

The PlayStation 4 console controller has only received one minor redesign in the last six years. But next year comes the first official expansion for him. It's kind of a response to Xbox's Elite controller, not as a standalone controller model, but as an add-on to the existing DualShock 4.

The plugin is called the Back Button Attachment and adds two buttons on the back of the PS4 controller. They are pressed with rings, and they can be programmed for two of the 16 possible different functions. For example, if you do not want to press the cross, circle, square or triangle keys with your thumb for some reason, you can program two of them to the left or right back Button Attachment.

The add-on also includes a circular OLED screen that displays keys that are programmed on the extra keys, and you can memorize three settings per game and quickly switch between them. The accessory is inserted into the bottom of the controller and blocks the 3.5mm headphone jack, but no need to worry about it as the headset can be connected directly to that accessory.

Back Button Attachment will go on sale on February 14, 2020 at a price of € 30. It won't come bundled with the DualShock 4 controllers themselves.
