Gun - long-range justice

To this day, exactly fourteen years ago, the creators of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater have left skateboarding to give us an interesting trip to the Wild West.

In the middle of the last decade, Rockstar still has not won the Western-themed video game industry. Although they had already released the Red Dead Revolver by now, in 2005, there was a game called Gun that overshadowed Rockstar's hit.

The Gun was credited to the Neversoft team, which previously dealt with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Spider-Man games. The Gun was their most ambitious project to date and sought to capitalize on the growing popularity of open-world games.

The game was set in 1880 in the areas of Colorado, Arizona, Kansas and New Mexico. Players took on the role of Colton White, ganging up on bandits, hunting animals, playing poker and the like.

Gun was played from two perspectives. Most of the game was played in third person, but when targeting, one could also get into first-person view, the so-called quick draw mode. There were also shots while riding, as well as sneaking and hitting opponents.

The Gun picked up great reviews upon its release, calling it a GTA game in the 19th century. Today, PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube versions could be played, while a few weeks later a version for the Xbox 360 console came out, which means Gun was one of the first games for the second generation of Xbox. In 2006, a portable version of Gun for PlayStation Portable followed.

Today, Gun can be found on sale on Steam and GOG.
