Death Stranding is coming to Epic Games Store and Steam at the same time
The PC version of Death Stranding is already available for pre-order, and we know in which stores the game will appear.
Ever since it was announced that the PC version of Death Stranding would be distributed by 505 Games, it has been doubted that the game could be exclusive to the Epic Games Store. Specifically, earlier this year, 505 Games had already pledged allegiance to Epic Games with a game called Control, so some thought a similar thing could happen with Death Stranding.
However, the PC version appeared yesterday for pre-order in two places: on the Epic Games Store and on Steam. Both sites are set to be available in the summer of 2020. This is an exception to the practice so far, since games are not released simultaneously on both platforms. According to Epic Games policy, game publishers are required to have a game not appear on Steam for a year if available on EEC.
However, this seems to be changing. First, Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC secured a little exclusivity on EGS for a month, and now it's confirmed that Death Stranding will be released on both Steam and EGS at the same time. There will probably be more games by the summer that will have the same kind of launch, but Death Stranding for now remains the first exception to the rule so far.
