FIFA 20 match-fixing scandal has been revealed
Eurogamer has revealed a shameful practice mutually agreed upon by top FIFA players.
Some say FIFA is not an authentic simulation of football. However, it is authentic in one aspect - just like in real football, there are various scandals in FIFA games that are scandalous. An example of this is the recently discovered controversy about which the Eurogamer portal wrote an excellent report.
In short, US Fife players have come together and opened a Discord server to agree on how to avoid playing against each other. The reason for this is, of course, in the prize pool of the Weekend League competitions, which depend on the player's scores (win-loss ratio). The professional players realized that they could pick up the most prizes if they agreed to avoid matches, so by actually setting up matches, they actually get more prizes because they choose easier rivals.
As things stand, EA Sports has been informed of this and has disciplined one player. But we somehow doubt that this is the end of the story because this scandal only confirmed that competitiveness in Fifa has another side of the "medal".
