DiRT 5 becomes a graphically poor game in 120 fps mode on consoles

Tests of the first game that supports 120 fps performance on the Xbox Series X console have shown the brutal reality - that it comes with a huge compromise.

Does this look like a picture from the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X upstairs? Probably not, but it is - it's a DiRT 5 on the Xbox Series X console, in 120 frames per second performance mode. Nothing more detailed / beautiful will look on the PlayStation 5 either, let's face it.

Namely, journalists who got the Xbox Series X for testing these days were given the opportunity to play DiRT 5 as the first game to support gaming at 120 frames per second. And while the game does reach such a high framerate, there are many impressions that the price is too high for that. Namely, DiRT 5 is significantly inferior to this setting.

And not only does it lower the resolution of certain segments below 1080p, but it also excludes important things from the complete presentation. If you want to play DiRT 5 in 120 fps on the console, say goodbye to the audience, ie models of people next to the track - because there is no such thing in 120 fps mode. Don’t even expect visible vegetation in the mountains in the distance, embrace a poorer display of vehicle models, forget about the ambient oclusion of shadows beneath buildings, and prepare for frequent popping textures. Yes, the disk can load them quickly, but the processor obviously saves them to run the game with better performance.

Of course, this is just the first example of a game at 120 fps, and it's a game that hasn't even been completed yet. However, hardly anyone will be really surprised by the first results. The fact that the console theoretically supports something does not mean that it is capable of the same without certain limitations. If nothing else, those who have tried the DiRT 5 at 120 fps claim that the feel of the gameplay is better than the look of the game. And the more positive side of the story is that there was no significant drop in performance in 12o fps mode - no matter how uglier the game looked.

See what kind of hardware you will need for the PC version of Watch Dogs Legion

Ubisoft has released as many as six recommended configurations for playing Watch Dogs Legion on PC. Check which one will suit your conditions.

UPDATE (October 12): Ubisoft today updated the requirements for the PC version of the Watch Dogs Legion. The changes aren’t big, but there are. For example, instead of the GTX 960, the game now requires a minimum of GTX 970. For 1440p resolution, it will require the penultimate generation of Core-i7 processors, but there are also cases where the requirements are mitigated. For example, RTX 2070 will no longer be needed for raytracing effects at 1080p resolution - RTX 2060 will suffice.

Halloween Terror in Overwatch begins tomorrow

As every year, Overwatch will traditionally get a new outfit on the occasion of the upcoming Halloween

There are fewer and fewer sunny days and this is an indication that we are entering a gloomy autumn season, and as part of it, the traditional Halloween Terror will be held in Overwatch. This time-limited event will begin tomorrow, Oct. 13, and run through Nov. 3.

As usual, all Overwatch heroes will get their new Halloween costumes. Sigma thus becomes the haunted spirit of the captain, and Winston begins to act like a werewolf. A detailed schedule of events will be revealed upon the launch of the event, but it is already clear that survival will once again be a major theme and activity in Halloween Terror 2020.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will receive official footwear from Reebok

Ubisoft has agreed to work with Reebok to result in official footwear for the Assassins and Vikings.

What you see in the picture above is the fall-winter fashion collection of 873, worn by Eivor, the bearded Viking and the occasional Assassin. Somehow we doubt these shoes will be worn again in the 21st century, but you never know with fashion. What we do know is that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will have official footwear.

It will be produced by Reebok as part of a promotion for the game itself and that's all we know. We don’t know if those shoes will be in the form of sneakers, boots, shoes, Viking slippers. But let us inform you about that as well. Discovery is "soon", anyway.

Skye is a new agent in Valorant, and a new map is coming soon

Valorant's third "act" will start next week when a new map arrives, while a new agent, Australian Skye, arrives at the end of the month.

Strong women are in trend! Riot Games has revealed a new, second additional character for its competitive shooter Valorant. It will be Skye, an Australian who brings with her a real little zoo.

Skye can thus summon an eagle that he is able to guide to the enemy to blind him. In addition to the eagle, he can also summon the Tasmanian tiger, which disables the enemy when touched. In addition, she has the power of Regrowth to treat comrades nearby, and the ultimate attack is called Seekers, which summons three helpers to find her closest enemies and obscure their view of the action.

Skye will appear in Valorant on the 27th of this month, but before her on the 13th of October a new battle pass will come into play together with an additional map. The map will be called Icebox, and you can get a first look at it in the video below.

Ghost of Tsushima will run at 60 fps on the PlayStation 5

Development studio Sucker Punch Productions has confirmed that their hit Ghost of Tsushima will harness the power of the PlayStation 5 console at 60 frames per second.

Ghost of Tsushima will run on the PlayStation 5 console, as well as 3999 other games. But even better news is that the game won’t need any remastered 80-euro edition to run at 60 frames per second. This will be possible with the standard PS4 version with the help of the Game Boost option on the PlayStation 5.

Ghost of Tsushima also had a better performance option on the PlayStation 4 Pro console model, which sacrificed resolution for more stable performance. However, even with this Performance mode, it was not possible to reach a smooth 60 frames per second.

Fortunately, the Sucker Punch Productions development team has confirmed that they will be working on recorded positions from the PS4 version of the game on the PlayStation 5. They also said that the downloads will be super fast, which we believe in because it is one of the few newer games that loads quite quickly on the PlayStation 4.

It has been revealed which PS4 games will not work on the PlayStation 5

Sony has finally revealed some more details about the backward compatibility of PS4 games on the PlayStation 5 console. The situation is good - only 10 games will not work.

As it was recently said, 99% of PlayStation 4 games will be able to be played on PlayStation 5. In fact, the percentage is even higher as it has now been revealed that more than 4,000 PS4 games will be supported and only ten titles will not work. And it was announced which ten games it was. And you probably haven’t even heard of most of them. PlayStation 4 games that will not work on PlayStation 5 are as follows:

  • DWVR
  • Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
  • TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2
  • Just Deal With It!
  • Shadow Complex Remastered
  • Robinson: The Journey
  • We Sing
  • Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
  • Shadwen
  • Joe’s Diner

So probably headlines that no one will shed a tear for.

Sony has also clarified how PS4 games will run on the PS5 console. Some will benefit from the Game Boost option provided by the console (similar to the PlayStation 4 Pro model) which means it will run at a higher resolution or at a more stable number of frames per second. Admittedly, there is no list of games that will profit from it.

Some PS4 games on the PS5 console will not be able to use certain functionalities as on the PlayStation 4 and some will experience performance errors or unexpected behavior (crash, etc.). It has not been said how big the sample of games is. Games for the PlayStation VR will be playable on the PS5 console, but users will need a special adapter for the PlayStation camera - which Sony will distribute in the package with the PS5 console itself.

The PS5 console, In-Game Live from PlayStation and PS4 Second Screen applications will not work on the PS5 console. There will also be no menu that opens with the Share button. But there will be the option to record gameplay just as it existed on the PlayStation 4.

From the PlayStation 4 console, you will be able to transfer installed games to the PlayStation 5 via a wi-fi network or using a removable disk. Games for the PlayStation 4 will be able to run on the PS5 console and via a removable disk, without the need to install them on the disk in the console itself.

Private matches in CoD: Warzone started - by mistake

Several players have managed to launch Call of Duty: Warzone through private matches, a feature eagerly awaited.

Many CoD: Warzone players have been calling for the introduction of private match options for months. The creators of the game have not yet made such a thing possible, but it seems that they are working on it and that this functionality is practically ready. Namely, two users via glitch in the sixth season of Warzone allegedly managed to start a private match of mini battle royale format with 24 players.

According to unofficial information, in private matches of Warzone it is possible to adjust the rules of the game, for example whether tactical sprinting is allowed, how fast the hoop is approaching the middle, how much energy the players have and the like. It is also mentioned that in private matches there is no XP collection or advancement to unlock weapon upgrades, which was to be expected.

So, it is likely that private matches will arrive in Warzone, but when exactly - it is still unknown.
