See what multiplayer will look like in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

The Treyarch development team has unveiled the multiplayer component of the new Call of Duty game with three new modes.

While the Raven Software studio is working on a single-player campaign CoD: Black Ops Cold Wara, the creators of the Black Ops series themselves will provide us with a multiplayer component of the said game. Today it was officially presented to the world. We have a lot of new information so let's go in order.

First the trailer, because a thousand pictures speaks ten thousand words.

  • multiplayer takes place in time in the 80s just like the SP campaign, but chronologically after the campaign event
  • three factions will be available: the CIA, MI6 and the KGB
  • Cold War will use the same model of operatives as Modern Warfare - characters who, unlike the specials in Black Ops 4, have no special powers but are only visually different
  • a good portion of the multiplayer maps will be designed according to actual locations, and we will visit the frozen lakes of Uzbekistan, the desert in Angola, the streets of Miami and the heart of the USSR, Moscow
  • from famous mods return Team Deathmatch, Search & Destroy, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Control
  • three new fashions are VIP Escort, Combined Arms and Fireteam
  • VIP Escort is a 6v6 mode in which two teams must protect or attack a player whom the player randomly selects as a VIP, in which case he only gets a gun and a smoke grenade, and his comrades have to take him to a safe zone.
  • Combined Arms is a 12v12 mode in which the focus will be on battles with the use of vehicles such as tanks, helicopters, snowmobiles, etc.
  • Fireteam is a mode for 40 players divided into ten teams, and is specific to each type of environment in which it takes place; more details will be revealed later
  • The Create-a-Class system is now based on slots, and Wildcards can be added to loadouts, giving one of four benefits, such as six perks or eight primary weapon accessories
  • there will be a total of 54 weapon upgrades
  • scoretracks return and now points are saved even when a player is eliminated, but they have a cooldown
  • like Modern Warfare, Cold War will support cross-play, but also cross-progression which means you will be able to start it on one console and only continue on the other if you have two copies of the game
  • a traditional mini-map will be present in the game
  • automatic health recovery also returns
  • players will be able to turn on the energy display above the opponent's head
  • sprinting will be unlimited
  • Time-to-Kill is a bit faster than in Black Ops 4
  • as with Modern Warfare, all additional maps and mods will be free to all game owners
  • the game launches in beta testing during the 10th month, first on PlayStation 4 from October 10 to 12, and then on other platforms from October 17 to 19.
