Pikachu didn't evolve though, it was all a big click bait

Pikachu, owned by Ash Ketchum, did not evolve even after a thousand or so episodes, and the creators of the series performed the expected cover.

Many Pokemon fans last week wondered if it was really possible that Ash Ketchum’s Pikachu would evolve into a more advanced version, Raichua, after more than two decades, as the description of the 35th episode of Pokemon Journeys suggested. Yesterday that episode aired in Japan so we got the answer that reads: no, it’s not possible.

Namely, many Pikachui evolved in this episode, but not the oldest we know. Still, the creators of the series decided to keep fans in a state of uncertainty and disbelief for a full 15 seconds. For a moment, evolution seemed to have taken place in Raichu, but it was soon discovered that it was just a hoax.

Still, one Raichu will be present on Ash’s adventures in the future because his companion Goh, who wanted Pikachu in this episode, eventually got Raichu.
